Jeep Frame Horn Pushed Up Repair?

  1. bent frame horns

Shortly after getting my jeep put together and on the road I crossed a bridge towards the end of winter which was covered in ice. As before long every bit I got on the bridge I lost control and the jeep did a 360 and slamed into the concrete wall in the on coming traffic side of the bridge. I didnt hurt the body at all, just did bent the frame from the front crossmember forward on both sides. On my jeep, there isn;t the big plate between the runway on the front similar the 76-86 cjs where y'all would mount a winch, its all open. In that location is a thick cross member just behind the grill, and from that xmember forward is where it is bent, its about a human foot section. It is aptitude to the drivers side most a inch to a inch and a half. Ive checked around frame shops but dont have the extra greenbacks now to ready it. I have had people tell me that I tin can do it myself at dwelling house and am almost at the betoken where I tin can get to fixing information technology. I am looking for ideas as to how I tin do this, any propose would help alot. I deceit take pics correct at present but may be able to later, you probably couldnt tell information technology was bent in the pic anyway. I have no way of anchoring the frame downward to annihilation in the garage. Here is a quondam film I had stored on my computer showing from the grill forward, the xmember is just behind the grill.

Are both aptitude or but one? Practice you have a garage with block walls or like the side of your house with block walls? It's an easy fix, I recollect.

pull upwardly side by side to a expert size tree with the bends away from the tree. run a come along to the front tip of the bent function, the farthest edge of the bend. claw the other end to another tree behind the one you parked by. starting cranking on the come forth. it will pull the jeep over till the jeep is against the tree and then it will start pulling on the bent office. try to have the cantankerous fellow member against the tree, or put a 4x6 against the tree and cantankerous member so the pulling is back against the aforementioned betoken where it aptitude originally.

we accept done some cars that way and were able to straighten stuff out enough that you couldn;t look and tell it was bent. maybe a machine would take hold of it just just past looking they looked straight

Ok, so hither is my idea.....Very like to superj's. When I was in Republic of iraq, my Striker was hitting with an RPG and we needed to repair the damage to the anti-armor counter measure (you Marines call it a baggage rack ). When y'all're in the field, y'all need to call back fast so we came upwards with something similar to this. See drawing and no, I'm non an creative person but I promise yous get the idea.

Thats swell, I was thinking along the same lines. The just problem I recollect I will accept is the front end tire is in the style of putting annihilation against the xmember. I can probably full up by the tree or wall and take the tire off and put a 4"x4" against it them.. thanks for the help I was hopeing that idea would piece of work. Glad others accept done it also. and yeah both rail are bent, superj, due south pic is exactly how.
